Aboard the Aurora

The train route between St. Petersburg and Moscow is very heavily traveled. The Aurora and the Red Arrow are two famous trains that make this trip daily and nightly, respectively. The Aurora made only a couple stops during the five hour trip. At one of these stops, several people were selling local goods. The first picture shows one of the many transactions that hastily took place before the train continued its southern journey. The man is purchasing some smoked fish which are smartly wrapped to-go in some corrugated cardboard. The boys are selling what looked to be some very fresh local mushrooms. The second picture shows some rural houses. Small clusters of houses like these dotted the landscape between St. Petersburg and Moscow.
